When the auction is about to start, a ‘Watch Auction’ button will appear on the auction’s catalogue page. To participate, you will need to be registered and approved by the auctioneer.
Joining the Auction:
- Click ‘Watch Auction' this will take you to the live bidding applet in a pop-up.
- Log in using your Bidspotter.co.uk email and password.
- Click the speaker icon to hear the auctioneer (this appears only if audio is available).
- If the auctioneer is broadcasting video, the live stream will automatically display in the top right corner of your screen.
Placing Your Bid:
During the live auction, the blue ‘BID NOW’ button will appear below the current and asking price of the lot being offered.
Auctions can move swiftly, and waiting until the last moment might result in missing out if the hammer comes down before your bid is processed.
It is important to rely on the bid amounts displayed on your screen rather than just listening to or watching the auctioneer to stay updated.
- When the lot you are interested in comes up, if you're happy with the asking price, click the 'BID NOW' button to submit your bid.
- If you're the highest bidder, the bid button will turn green with a message saying 'You are in the lead.'
- If you are outbid and someone else bids higher, the blue bid button will reappear, allowing you to place a new bid at the next available increment.
After Winning:
The auction house will contact you directly with your invoice and to arrange payment and delivery. For a quicker process, you may choose to contact them directly.
Important Note: Whether bidding in person or online, remember that placing a bid is a binding commitment to purchase the item.
